Scalp Micropigmentation
Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a cosmetic procedure used to create the appearance of hair follicles on the scalp through the application of micro-fine pigments. While SMP is generally safe when performed by a qualified practitioner, it can have potential risks and complications, particularly related to infections and skin reactions.
Infection Risks
*Bacterial Infections: If proper hygiene and sterilization protocols are not followed, there is a risk of bacterial infections, such as cellulitis or folliculitis, where bacteria infect hair follicles.
*Fungal Infections: Fungal infections, such as tinea capitis (ringworm), can occur if the scalp is not properly sanitized or if there is pre-existing fungal contamination.
