Skin Tag

Skin tags are small, benign growths of skin that are usually harmless. However, like any other skin growth, they can become irritated or infected under certain conditions.

1. Skin Tag Overview

What They Are: Skin tags, or acrochordons, are soft, small, flesh-colored growths that hang off the skin. They commonly appear in areas where the skin folds, such as the neck, armpits, groin, eyelids, and under the breasts.

2. Infection of Skin Tags

How They Can Become Infected: Skin tags can become irritated or injured by clothing, jewelry, or shaving. If a skin tag is cut or torn, bacteria can enter the wound, leading to infection.
